President-elect Donald Trump has named Brian Burch, president and co-founder of CatholicVote, as his nominee for U.S. ambassador to the Vatican.
Trump shared the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “I am pleased to announce that Brian Burch will serve as the next United States Ambassador to the Holy See. Brian is a devout Catholic, a father of nine, and President of CatholicVote.”
Burch expressed his commitment to advancing human dignity and the common good in his new position.
I am deeply honored and humbled to have been nominated by President Trump to serve as the United States Ambassador to the Holy See. Words cannot express my gratitude to all those that have helped me achieve this nomination, most especially my wife Sara…

Trump also praised Brian Burch for receiving numerous awards and showing exceptional leadership in helping to build one of the largest Catholic advocacy organizations in the country.
“He represented me well during the last Election, having garnered more Catholic votes than any Presidential Candidate in History!”
The nomination comes as Trump retains strong support among Catholic voters. According to the AP, 22% of voters in November identified as Catholic, with 55% backing Trump – an important shift from 2020, when the Catholic vote was split between Trump and President Biden.
Burch, who resides in suburban Chicago with his wife, Sara, and their nine children, leads a group focused on advancing Catholic values. Confident in his nominee, Trump wrote on social media, “Brian loves his Church and the United States – He will make us all proud.”
President Biden, a practicing Catholic, is scheduled to meet with Pope Francis during a January visit to the Vatican, his final trip abroad as president.
