Jeff Daniels (born February 19, 1955, in Athens, Georgia, U.S.) is an American actor, playwright, musician, and producer. He studied at Central Michigan University before leaving to pursue theater. Early stage work and performances with New York theater companies helped launch a career that would span film, television, and the stage.
He gained recognition through films such as Terms of Endearment, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Gettysburg, and Dumb and Dumber. Later, he earned Emmy Awards for The Newsroom and Godless. Known for moving seamlessly between comedy and drama, he established himself as one of America’s most versatile and respected actors.
He has continued starring in projects such as A Man in Full, American Rust, and The Comey Rule, while also writing plays and performing music.
