Japan Airlines (JAL) announced on Thursday that its systems were restored, with same-day ticket sales resuming, after a cyberattack caused delays to some domestic and international flights.
The attack, which began at 7:24 a.m., disrupted both internal and external systems, leading JAL to temporarily shut down a malfunctioning router and suspend ticket sales for Thursday’s flights.
The company confirmed no customer data was compromised, and there was no damage from computer viruses.
ANA Holdings, Japan’s other major airline, reported no signs of an attack on its systems, according to a spokesperson.
American Airlines briefly grounded all flights for an hour on Christmas Eve due to a technical glitch with network hardware, affecting thousands of travelers.
