James Earl Jones (born January 17, 1931, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, U.S. – died September 9, 2024) was an American actor. He studied drama at the University of Michigan and began his career in theater, overcoming a childhood stutter to become one of the most respected stage and screen performers of his era.
He earned acclaim through The Great White Hope, Field of Dreams, The Hunt for Red October, and Coming to America. He also provided the iconic voices of Darth Vader in Star Wars and Mufasa in The Lion King.
