Donald Sutherland (born July 17, 1935, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada – died June 20, 2024) was a Canadian actor. He studied engineering and drama at the University of Toronto before further training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Early stage and film roles helped establish him as a distinctive presence in international cinema.
He gained widespread recognition through The Dirty Dozen, Kelly’s Heroes, Klute, Don’t Look Now, Ordinary People, and later The Hunger Games series.
