Samsung may launch an 'entry-level' version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6

While foldable smartphones have become more commonplace, their high cost remains a significant barrier. For instance, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 is priced at $1,800. However, a recent report suggests that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be accompanied by a more budget-friendly “entry-level” device.

According to The Elec, Samsung aims to launch an “entry-level” Galaxy Z Fold 6 later this year, intending to boost the foldable phone market’s adoption, particularly amidst increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers.

The report highlights that despite being a pioneer in foldable technology, Samsung ranks third in the Chinese foldable market. Competitors like Xiaomi, Honor, and Huawei have gained traction by offering more affordable foldables, outselling Samsung in the region.

This isn’t the first time reports have emerged about Samsung working on a more affordable foldable device. While previous attempts didn’t materialize, recent indications in November 2023 suggested the development of a “mid-range” foldable. Samsung clarified that it may not be mid-range in price but didn’t rule out the possibility of a more budget-friendly device.

Details about the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 are still scarce. However, early information hints at potential changes in aspect ratio and a thinner design.
